John Thomas

Four Years Old!

December 16, 2009

Halloween went very well. There was a small party at school during the day on Friday the 30th that Mommy attended. John Thomas dressed as SpiderMan as planned, and Mommy was Venom.

On Saturday the 31st there was a small change in costume plans, John Thomas decided to go as "Army Man". Mommy was Venom again, and Daddy stuck with the Marvel theme and was the Incredible Hulk.

We went trick or treating around the neighbourhood with a few of the neighbours and were out for over an hour while Nana Fran handed out candy for us.

This year we had a lot of fun putting up decorations for Halloween, and there was a lot of talk about the skulls and skeletons. When it was time to take them down, John Thomas was told that we needed to do so in order to put up Christmas decorations. So our Christmas tree was up and decorated quite early in November.

We managed to convince him to put away the Christmas stockings until after his birthday at least.

Again this year we had multiple celebrations for John Thomas' birthday. His birthday fell on a Thursday this year, we dined out at Harvey's for hamburgers and had a couple of the neighbours over for cupcake dessert, along with Uncle Richard who was in town.

The Sunday following we had family and some friends over for the party. Carrot cake and cupcakes were had for dessert.

We attended the Santa Clause parade the same weekend. Bringing chairs for the little ones and a little more experience made this year even more enjoyable than last.

John Thomas came down with bronchitis last week, and has spent a lot of time keeping busy with indoor activities. One was painting a couple of canvases to hang in the house, another was Christmas ornaments, and another was Gingerbread Men Cookies. He particularly liked to decorate them using each of the four colours Mommy provided for him.

He is well on his way to recovery now, and hope him to be fully recovered for the holidays for lots of play in the big snow pile that has amassed in the middle of our street.
