John Thomas' Forty-fifth Week

WALKING!

That's right, we have actual walking now. Not holding onto anyone's hands or fingers, not just a couple of steps, actual walking! It started on Tuesday, John Thomas took about 8 steps in a row, and he kept on getting up and trying again. By the end of the day he had done 17 steps in a row! He had similar success on Wednesday (see pictures below), and outdid himself on Thursday. We brought him to an indoor playground, and with all the open space he walked over 50 steps in a row without falling down!

After all this walking, we decided he was going to need some shoes. So on Thursday he was fitted at Kiddie Kobbler and his Grandma Nikki bought him his first pair of shoes. He was even able to take a few steps while wearing them in the store.

John Thomas is making a lot more sounds these days, not just the simple babble he has been doing for the past few months. It almost sounds like he's trying to say actual words, but it's hard to be sure what those could be.

And on Thursday, to top off the nice fall day he was enjoying outside, he enjoyed his first mouthfull of dirt. He's much faster now that he's walking, and before Mom could turn around and stop him, he had put a mouthfull of dirt in his mouth. It didn't seem to bother him, except when Mom tried to take a picture of him in the act.
